Xabi Alonso job security
Xabi Alonso job security at Real Madrid is now under intense scrutiny after their 2-1 loss to Manchester City in the Champions League. Despite the defeat, Alonso’s future is not immediately threatened, but a third consecutive defeat could mark the end of his tenure at the club. The former Bayer Leverkusen manager faces increasing pressure to turn things around after a string of disappointing results.
Guardiola’s ties to Barcelona and the defeat at the Bernabeu made it clear that Alonso’s job security is fragile. Reports before the match suggested a loss could result in his sacking, but sources indicate that he is likely to stay for now. Nonetheless, unless he can deliver a strong performance in the upcoming games, his position could soon be at risk.
When the final whistle blew, “We’ve got Guardiola” rang out from the 2,500 City supporters. The chants reflected the growing frustration among Real Madrid fans as Alonso’s position remains uncertain.
Xabi Alonso job security and Growing Pressure
Alonso’s future at Real Madrid is now closely tied to the team’s upcoming results. After the loss to Manchester City, it is reported that the board convened to discuss their options. While Alonso remains in charge for now, his job security is hanging by a thread, and only a strong reaction in the next few matches can secure his place at the helm.
Alonso has received praise for his work with the squad, but the lack of victories in key matches has placed him under intense pressure. There is a feeling that the players are not following his tactical instructions, and many are pointing to this as the reason for the team’s struggles.
Support from Players, But Can Alonso Find Consistency?
Despite the mounting pressure, Alonso has received full backing from his players. Jude Bellingham, in particular, emphasized that the squad remains “100% behind” their manager. “I personally have a great relationship with him, a lot of the lads do as well,” said Bellingham. “No-one’s downing tools, no-one’s complaining and moaning thinking the season is over.”
While the players are committed to Alonso’s methods, their recent performances have raised doubts about his ability to deliver consistent results. Real Madrid fans are questioning whether Alonso can find the consistency needed to turn around the club’s fortunes.
